Today Jasper & I need to introduce you to a new member of our family, a very handsome 6 year old black and white German warmblood gelding called Olli.
Olli has had a difficult time, his last owner had him for 2 years and shortly after she got him discovered that he had suffered a torn shoulder muscle that had not been treated properly. They then undertook an intensive physio routine to get his muscles back in shape, unfortunately even when his physical problems were sorted he encountered ridden problems. He bucks when he is first asked to move off after mounting. Despite much heartache & exhausting many avenues and ideas (including dental, back and saddle checks) they have never been able to remedy the problem.
This is where our journey together will begin, Olli arrived on Sunday and over the next couple of months I’m going to start him again working him through Australian Natural Horsemanship techniques with Kate Webber’s assistance & maybe a few ideas I picked up from Debbie at Okavango Horse Safaris.
Jasper & I will keep you updated as to how the new kid gets on with his new training program & if we manage to unlock his potential.
With Love
Fiona & Jasper (& Olli)
